Meet Heather,

Hey there!

I am thrilled you have found yourself here seeking self-care. My name is Heather and I am a licensed massage therapist, certified manual lymphatic drainage therapist, and founder/owner of The Mindful Bodyworker in Denver, Colorado.

I was born and raised in Nebraska, but I always knew I belonged somewhere else. I moved to Colorado (my home away from home) in 2017. Being in a new environment with different perspectives initiated me to transition and evolve as a person.

I considered the sphere of massage therapy for so many years before I told myself it was time to do it. I had been in the position of taking care of others for a long time. I worked as a CNA, Med Aide, and directly with individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities. These were fulfilling roles, but I sensed an impulse that something was missing, and I had a higher ambition to capture.

I grew up enduring chronic pain and migraines from the early age of 6. The only treatment given was prescription medications, and in my youth stage of life, I dismissed the use of it. I felt it in my bones that an in-depth exploration to addressing the whole person (instead of a segment to veil the symptoms) was an unparalleled pathway to wander. I have a concrete vision to help others who struggle with their mental health, chronic/autoimmune illness, body image, trauma, and day-to-day discomfort. Your malaise and discomposure are real/valid, and I am here for you. Offering all bodies the impression of balanced well-being through an alternative and more natural healing passage gives solace to my being.

Although I had an embryonic conception of my mind and body, I desired to amplify this awareness. I had to look inward to become more in tune with my mind, body, and soul. This contemporary relationship with myself ignited me to help others feel awakened to their bodies. For that reason, I began to pursue my lifelong dream of existing in the holistic realm.

In 2018, I immersed myself in a foreign journey to study the healing arts, with massage therapy and bodywork being my prime focus. In 2019, I graduated from Massage Therapy Institute of Colorado. Under the guidance of respected instructors and assistants, I enhanced my trade and matured a profound intellect of the art and science of massage therapy.

I received education in several modalities, and some of these techniques include: Manual lymphatic drainage, deep tissue, neuromuscular, trigger point, joint range of motion, structural integration, myofascial release, migraine, TMJ, scalp and facial massage, craniosacral therapy, Thai massage, prenatal, cupping, hot stone, and Swedish massage. With comprehensive training in a 900+ hour program, I commenced my dedication to nourishing others to live a life of purpose, calmness, kindness, and confidence through an intentional practice to elevate the human experience.

I take pleasure in thinking of myself as a bodywork artist. My intentional rhythmic flow is an appendage of my passion and love for art. The body I am working with is the medium, and my hands are the instrumental tools that get the freedom to create. The gravitational pull of strokes mimic the ebb and flow of the waves of the ocean. My harmonious style of bodywork arises from my training and personal exploration of the origins and approaches to massage therapy. Merging a fusion of Eastern and Western components generates an ideal rendezvous tonic for healing the mind, body and soul.

In bodywork treatments I integrate techniques to mold a therapeutic massage to meet you where your nervous system is. The conscious guiding touch is first gentle and gradual to support the breath in finding its cadence, and the body follows by finding its restful bearings. The bodies willingness and my attentive perception synergistically meet where deeper structural modalities are implemented. These remedial therapies stimulate healing so you can live a comfortable and wholesome life. My intentions are to guide my clients to feel at ease, connected to their bodies, and a deeper bond to their genuine selves. And yes, it can be as simple as finding relaxation and melting the stress away to get that ahh sensation.

I appreciate the sacred time of encouraging a therapeutic and nurturing touch. I engage my intuition combined with communication from my guests to provide a desirable and personalized massage session. I am honored to hold an inclusive space where others can let go of stress, tension, and pain that get in the way of being happy, authentic, and fully present. I am confident that bodywork is for each and every body, and I enjoy working with all people. Everyone deserves to quiet the mind, restore the body, and nourish the soul.

I know that was a lot to digest, but I am grateful you are here. To cultivate self-compassion and nurture a fertile ground for sustainable growth, resilience, holistic well-being, and recognizing your humanity, I invite this experience as an inherent part of your self-care rituals. I sincerely welcome you as an integral component of The Mindful Bodyworker.

Warmest regards,

Heather

A Mindful Mission

At the core of The Mindful Bodyworker’s philosophy:

Is sincere admiration for the human body’s innate capacity to heal itself, with a deep-rooted belief in the metamorphic power of touch fostering this undertaking.

Massage therapy is an intrinsic element of harmonious contentment for nurturing the human experience.

The body has direct connections to the brain and mind, and when the nervous system becomes overly sensitized (stress), perceived tension and pain surface. Emotions help us respond to threats by alerting our body to ‘freeze’, ‘fight’, or ‘flight’; this is our sympathetic nervous system doing its job. Our emotional expressions are a protective aspect to keep ourselves safe, but “negative” emotions like fear, anger, and grief cause our bodies to react the most. Once the situation has passed, often, the feelings do not disappear, and instead, these emotional packages become stored in our bodies as trauma.

Human touch, especially massage, forms a central component of social bonding. When humans receive touch, it triggers an increased release of happy hormones. Serotonin, endorphins, dopamine, and oxytocin (known as the love drug) help promote happiness and pleasure while reducing depression, anxiety, and sleeping disorders. Similarly, intentional touch lowers the hormone cortisol (an integral piece in our stress response). Therefore, the body begins to release and heal. Massage is becoming more recognized as a respected element in health care with continued research and proven benefits.

In essence, experiencing touch through massage therapy stimulates healing to transpire. Bodywork is a valuable integrative medicine that supports us in recovery and releases the collected emotional aches and physical compensation patterns. Overall, my métier is to offer perpetual vibrancy and tranquility while cultivating to an immense spectrum of unwellness and distress to elevate the human experience. My guest demographic is a myriad of ages, environments, cultures, and growth stages; emphasizing my pursuance in making bodywork an approachable, accessible, and inclusive experience for all bodies.

“When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot become manifest, strength cannot be exerted, wealth is useless, and reason is powerless.”
